About

Meet the Dungeon Master

Hi. My name is Jared and I’ve been playing Dungeons & Dragons for nearly 20 years. I grew up in a small town. The kind of place where there is not much to do other than to get into trouble. Or, if you are an irredeemable bookworm such as I, read.

I devoured our local library. Everything from Gordan Korman, Jo Walton, all the way to Bram Stoker (That one was particularly traumatizing to a third grader). One day I was browsing the fantasy section.

Searching for even a sniff of something new, when I came across a battered novel. The Halfing’s Gem by RA Salvatore. I flipped through the first few pages. and it was over. I was hooked.

Imagine my shock upon finishing the book; Printed on the back cover in bold font, that the world of Drizzt, Catti brie, Wulfgar, and Bruenor was based on D&D! I bought the starter set at our local Chapters the next day. Recruited (or in some cases conscripted) a few players and set up my first game.

I’ve brought my players to tender tears, enabled their heroics, and reveled in the joy of their victories. I have been a worthy rival, a benevolent friend, and occasionally the unwilling tag-along.

In 2015, I graduated from MacEwan University’s Bachelor of Applied Communications in Profession Writing. All my adventures have a strong narrative component. This includes a heavy focus on character interaction and roleplay.

After all, hitting kobolds is great. But, convincing them to overthrow their lizardman overlords through the power of song is epic.

I am comfortable creating and running games in any genre or setting. You want to play a sy-fi dystopian setting with cyberpunk and mystical elements? Heck yeah!

I truly believe that everyone has a place in tabletop games. It doesn’t matter who you are, my table is a safe place for all. And we have a chair here waiting for you.
